Interpeace’s current portfolio has a strong alignment between where programmatic activities are focused and the needs identified by the communities and governments with which Interpeace works. A review in 2023 of recently completed or currently funded projects revealed that most programmes remain well aligned with the five-year strategy. Specifically, in-country programme work continues to concentrate on:

• Resilience strengthening, reconciliation and social-cohesion building, often through dialogues, consensus building, and joint planning and action.
• Conflict prevention, management and transformation, which is advanced through research and conflict monitoring and analysis, intra-community and inter-community dialogue, capacity strengthening, and accompanying insider mediators.
• Enhancing participatory, inclusive and responsive governance through participatory action research, support to platforms for citizen engagement, strengthening and accompaniment of advocacy initiatives, and support to policy development.

The activities undertaken across Interpeace’s programming in 2023 are shown in the table below.

In total, 642 activities were undertaken for local/national/regional conflict management and for promoting social cohesion, and they reached 28 138 people. Some 56% of the people were reached through dialogues, and 27% were reached through festivals/screenings/public events.

While much of Interpeace’s work has taken place within countries, since 2011 Interpeace has also engaged in cross-border programming. Over time, it has become evident that for communities living in border areas, peace and security are dependent on both the national context in which they find themselves and on the contexts across borders. As such, cross-border programming constitutes a continued area of focus including in 2023.
