The four day workshop held in Hiroshima between 21-24 July was followed by an open seminar “Challenges Ahead for United Nations Peacebuilders: Lessons from the Field and the New UN Peacebuilding Architecture”.

Because of our joint programme unit that is part of the UN, we actively participated in this first annual event of the UN peacebuilding community of practice. The focus was on how to better coordinate activities - from conflict prevention to reconstruction  - in order to ensure that the individual bests add up to the collective best of global peacebuilding.

Sharing our lessons from the field with the participants, it was also an important networking opportunity to exchange and build on ideas.

The event was sponsored by the Peacebuilding Community of Practice, a network of peacebuilding specialists, in a joint effort by the United Nations University and the UN Peacebuilding Support Office.
